Education

SCP is experienced in addressing a wide range of highways and transportation issues for new education facilities across the country.

Schools and colleges can present a number of challenges in terms of staff and pupil travel and our experience extends across a range of age groups and educational needs. Our early engagement with stakeholders often results in a more integrated layout and successful solution.

  • West Herts College, Watford

The modernisation of the town centre campus also included amalgamation with its Sixth Form College, offering a site that will accommodate up to 6,000 students. We prepared a detailed Transport Assessment, including car parking assessments and new site access arrangements, along with a Travel Plan that required extensive travel surveys and collaboration with local bus operators.

  • Waterfoot Primary School, Rawtenstall

Our work for Lancashire County Council required the assessment of an eco-friendly replacement primary school for 315 pupils along with new performing arts facilities, extended classrooms and car park improvements to the adjacent Bacup and Rawtenstall Grammar School. Attendance at the public exhibition helped identify the key highways issues and concerns of local residents, ensuring that our Transport Assessment covered all aspects of the proposals.
