Retail

SCP has extensive experience of the specific requirements of retail developments from the perspective both of developers and operators.

We are involved from the outset of a project assisting the architect with master-planning and internal-layout issues and advising on parking numbers and servicing requirements. We provide the required formal Transport Assessment documentation and Travel Plans to support development proposals through the planning process. We also offer additional services post planning permission to discharge conditions, satisfy planning obligations and to secure technical approval for highway improvements undertaken through a Section 278 Agreement.

We have worked for all the major food and discount food retailers as well as the principal operators in the non-food market, mixed-use developments and retail parks. Download our Retail experience sheet for information.

Examples of our more recent retail development projects are:

  • Birkenhead Town Centre Redevelopment

SCP were commissioned to prepare a comprehensive transport assessment to accompany a planning application for the redevelopment of Birkenhead Town Centre. The proposals incorporated 80,000 sq ft of non food retail development and 90,000 sq ft for a major food-retail operator.
