Last week the Holyhead hydrogen hub plans were approved. SCP are delighted with the news of the approval after supporting Mentor Mon Cyf with the highways elements of this proposal.
The Hydrogen Hub is a refuelling station and will be the first of its kind in Wales due to be located next to the recently opened HMRC Inland Border Facility in Parc Cybi and provide hydrogen fuelling for HGVs and cars, located off J2 of the A55.
SCP’s support included a Transport Statement produced to assess the impact of the proposed development on the local highway network.
Hydrogen technology is a relatively new concept in the UK but is becoming more popular, the argument for such a development can be tricky to analyse the impact with little specific data to compare it to.
Overall, the transport planning team’s findings were able to confirm that there are no transport, traffic or highway reasons to resist the grant of planning permission for the hydrogen hub.
