SCP’s Manchester office hosted and supported 4 BTEC Engineering students from Trinity Church of England High School last week as they gained valuable work experience.
The 4 sixth-from students took time away from their school in Hulme over the Easter holiday to gain wider skills and knowledge from our Infrastructure Design team in Manchester.
While looking to explore civil engineering as a possible career choice and learn about the degree apprenticeship route into the industry, the students were set on a design challenge to create a new access into a housing estate – complete with pedestrian and cycling facilities as well as producing a plan for the client along with a budget price for the scheme.
While with SCP, the students also watched presentations on the role of the civil engineer, observed how to design a drainage network to relieve flooding and watched a 3D road model being built.
Our team really enjoyed the experience stating the students were professional, curious and articulate, great ambassadors for their school.
SCP takes pride in the civil engineering industry and is keen to open our doors for the next generation of engineers to engage and make the right choice for them when choosing their career paths.
We currently have opportunities available in all our offices for Level 4 Civil Engineering apprentices.
If you’re interested in learning more about work experience or the careers we have available please do get in touch.
