SCP were approached to become involved in CIHT’s latest Active Travel campaign ‘Final Mile on Foot’.
Director David Young from the Transport Planning team in Leeds took on the challenge with a twist.
David is a regular runner, running at least twice a week, he turned the challenge on it’s head and decided to take his ‘final mile’ home instead, getting off 2 stops before his usual stop making the next leg of his journey a ‘final 6.7miles’.
The campaign is promoting a healthier lifestyle (physically and mentally), with an aim to also reduce congestion and help save money.
Traditionally the ‘final mile’ was intended for your journey to work but as David wanted to combine his normal exercise with this challenge he swapped it around.
David says in the article “By combining a run with the journey home, I saved 45 minutes on my evening. Yes it needs a little planning, but the time saved is fantastic. I will do this again.”
