We’re pleased that advertisement consent was granted for two billboards in Colwick, Nottinghamshire. The acceptability of advertisements is decided having regard to amenity and public safety, with the issue of public safety including highway safety considerations.
The advertisements are located adjacent to a busy T-junction on the Colwick Loop Road and the primary concern for the local highway authority was them being a distraction to drivers. SCP was appointed to examine the highway safety-related aspects of the scheme, through a detailed Highways Assessment, including a detailed review of driver visibility to the advertisements.
SCP’s Transport Planning team were able to successfully demonstrate that the proposed advertisement billboards would not cause undue driver distraction and conclude that there are no highway-related reasons to withhold planning permission for the scheme.
