SCP providing extensive support to the Newcastle Great Park Development

For two years SCP have been involved in a £9m scheme, located to the North West of Newcastle, on the Newcastle Great Park development.

Our role has been to provide consultancy support services for the planning and design of a road and bridge structure. The finished development will open up land for a large residential development.

SCP were initially commissioned to provide planning and technical support to the reserved matters planning application for a proposed 2km link road. The purpose of the scheme was intended to incorporate three roundabouts and a signalised junction, and worked as part of a site master planning team.

As the scheme progressed, our role has extended and we have since produced the highway and drainage design for the scheme, which included detailed modelling of the existing and proposed highway network. Key considerations included minimising the impact on the environment and in particular, the minimisation of noise and detrimental air quality impacts.

SCP have been responsible for producing feasibility studies, preliminary design and optioneering, and have supported others with the Transport and Flood Risk Assessment and Drainage Strategy to support the planning application for the scheme.

The scheme is currently ongoing and SCP have recently provided tender support for the main alignment works and hope to provide the client with further support through the two year construction programme.
