SCP recognised for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Commitments

Last Friday, the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (CIHT) held its annual Yorkshire and Humber regional dinner and awards evening.

At SCP, we encourage all our staff to be members of the CIHT, as it is the leading voice of the highways, transportation, infrastructure and services profession. Becoming a member of the professional institution offers a wide range of opportunities for staff to learn, progress in their professional development and attend networking events with like-minded individuals.

This year, the CIHT introduced a new award category for equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) initiative. This award was set up to recognise employers or individuals that have implemented or have been involved in an EDI initiative of merit. The judging committee were looking for an initiative that should have made a positive contribution to the organisation, the industry and society.

Thanks to the RSK employee networks, we at SCP are pleased to announce that we won the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Initiative Award 2023. Being recognised for our efforts towards a positive, equal, diverse and inclusive work environment will boost our profile and bolster our reputation within the industry.

As part of the RSK family, SCP recognises the importance of equality, diversity and inclusion in the workplace. We actively seek feedback from our staff to understand people’s needs and utilise the wider group’s infrastructure of employee networks, which gives our staff access to a wide range of resources. Using easily accessible platforms such as our intranet, we are able to promptly point staff in the right direction to networks that may be of interest. One member of staff in the Leeds office has recently become the EDI officer at the CIHT Yorkshire and Humber, which has increased the team’s knowledge of the importance of EDI, both in and out of the workplace.
