Charlie Wortley and Barry Roberts of the SCP Leeds office are currently remotely undertaking a Civil Engineering Law and Contract Management 2020/2021 Course with the University of Leeds.
The course is designed to improve Engineer’s understanding of contracts. The course includes contractual conditions, their legal framework and the management procedure needed to successfully complete projects. It follows the Institution of Civil Engineers syllabus and will prepare delegates for the ICE Law and Contract Management examinations. The course includes contractual strategies, Contract Law and Law of Tort, Contract Management with NEC4, Health and Safety liability, CDM Regulations, Dispute Resolution and Insurance and Bonds.
This year the course is been delivered remotely by academic and industry speakers through the University’s Collaborate Ultra platform. The delivery is through a mix of presentations, interactive elements (with both the speaker and delegates) and case studies, and when applicable pre-reading materials are provided prior to the sessions.
Steve Carmody – Director says, “The course will prepare SCP staff for contractual challenges and situations and will allow us to advise clients and contacts within the Civil Engineering industry of their contractual obligations”
