SCP’s Collaboration with Highways Skills Training Academy

"

In a promising move towards addressing the persistent skill gap in highway maintenance, SCP has recently partnered with Salford City College Group (SCC Group) to establish the Highways Skills Training Academy at the new state-of-the-art facility.

With the aim of providing comprehensive training through apprenticeships, this collaborative venture seeks to equip aspiring professionals with the necessary skills and knowledge to meet the demands of the industry. As a design partner of Bethall Group, we are actively involved in the development of this new facility, emphasising our commitment to promoting excellence in highway maintenance.

The skill gap in the highway industry comes down to the ageing workforce. Recognising the urgency to bridge this gap, SCP has joined in with the SCC Group’s initiative to establish the Highways Skills Training Academy. This aims to provide aspiring professionals with the necessary training and experience through apprenticeships, creating a pathway for them to enter into a career within the highways sector.

At the core of the partnership with SCC Group is a shared commitment to training and development. SCP understands that investing in the next generation of highway professionals is crucial to the industry’s growth and sustainability. By actively participating in the development of the Highways Skills Training Academy, SCP reinforces its dedication to providing comprehensive training opportunities that empower individuals to thrive in their careers.

The creation of this Academy marks a significant step towards closing the skill gap in the highway industry. By offering comprehensive training programs through apprenticeships, aspiring professionals will gain the knowledge and experience necessary to excel in this critical field.

This initiative is at the centre of SCP’s core values and demonstrates our social value in the work we do. SCP has been working in Salford for many years which has given us the opportunity to give back to the local community and demonstrate our commitment to training and development.

Steven Carmody SCP Managing Director said, “Together we can build a better future for our industry”.
